After two fourth-place finishes in the last two seasons, TSV 1860 Munich should finally achieve promotion in the upcoming season. The Lions have already distinguished themselves nine times in the transfer market and strengthened their reputation. Sporting director Günter Gorenzel is no longer under pressure, and he also explains why the club got all the players it wanted.

"A deliberate decision to rebuild the team."

Martin Kobylanski, Jesper Verlaat or Joseph Boyamba. The names of the summer transfers on TSV sound very good. The club has bought a lot of quality from Giesing. Not surprisingly, the goal for the coming season is promotion. In return, eight players left the club, including Richard Neudecker (Saarbrücken) and Denis Dressen (Hansa Rostock).

"We made a conscious decision to reorganize the team. I see it soberly: we now have the opportunity to change nine positions in the lineup. If you miss twice by a hair, it's okay to change strategy. The last year no one would have understood that we radically restructured our fourth-place team, this time we deliberately overstayed our contracts," explained Gunter Horenzel in an interview with Merkur.

"The availability of funds was crucial."

The 50-year-old Austrian and uganda betting sites confirmed an earlier statement by coach Michael Köllner that the club could sign any player it wanted. "The deciding factor was availability of funds and time. We were able to make a decision very early this year. If our turn didn't come up until two or three weeks later, we certainly wouldn't have gotten the best candidates. At least not the ones that the entire 3rd league and parts of the 2nd league are after."

But it wasn't just good timing, but Köllner and the club's charisma played a big part in the professionals finally signing with television. The coach is in contact with the players, catching people. "That's one of the qualities of Michael Koellner, he does it sensationally," Gorenzel admires. "But what you also have to say: the brand 1860, the location in Munich and our ambitious concept all work. We don't say, 'Let's see what happens. Implement action and do whatever it takes to get promoted. If you look at the players we brought in: almost all of them could have gone to the 2nd division."

The lineup is no more expensive than last year's

Kickers have also been advised to think hard about whether they want to make the move to Division 2, but whether they can only have a "backup role" there. Instead, they should rather come to the Lions, "and become a top performer! After all, one cog worked for the other - and that can explain this transfer summer." Despite the known additions, the lineup is no more expensive than in previous years. One reason: because of the departure of Türkgücü, there are many players on the market. "There is more supply, but less demand because of the Corona effect: the budgets of some clubs are clearly smaller this year, and therefore places in teams are reduced."

As in previous years, TSV is again one of the candidates for promotion. Nevertheless, Gorenzel doesn't think "that we have more pressure to succeed than in recent years, when we also had good lineups. There is a certain euphoria, but I'm a person who is not driven by emotion at all. have always been high."
